"Light of the World" is a single by The Arboretum, a band from Worcester, UK, known for a sound combining loud guitars, heavy bass lines and industrial electronic rhythms with a rock-dance groove, and lyrical themes centered on hope amid uncertain and challenging times. Compared to the band's earlier, denser gothic-electronica material, this single is described as harder and less dense, foregrounding vocals and drums while keeping keyboards deeper in the mix. The track opens with controlled feedback and features drumming in a style reminiscent of Killing Joke, layered harmonized vocals, guitar work drawing on the style of John McGeoch, a double-time drum breakdown, and pulsing electronic elements. The single was released on 15th July 2022, launched with a live performance at The Old Con Club in Malvern, with the band also appearing at Nozstock festival that year.
