Delta is a record made in two sessions, between July-August and November 2024. The songs were written and developed by Ujig starting in 2021, immediately after the recording of Ujigami, our third album.
The band states: “With no pretension, we believe that one of the main purposes of music, beyond supporting spirituality, is to share emotions and ideas, offering different perspectives to those who inhabit the same space and time. Delta was born from the realization that the contemporary world is making man more and more a slave to numbers. The value of things, and of human beings themselves, is often reduced to the numbers they generate—whether it be a bank account, an artist’s number of streams, or the quantification of a musical production or performance, leaving everything else in the background.”
Quantities are the only reality in the world of computers, which transform numbers into anything. Numbers veil the images we look at, the music we hear, and the information we consume. The more we are bound to numbers, the less difference there will be between us and the virtual world. The more we perceive Truth and the fiction of the virtual world as identical, the more numbers, from being a mere tool, become the very chains that imprison us.
Music gives us the opportunity to be free, to play with numbers—as we should do in our everyday lives. Numbers conceal pitfalls that go beyond what we can easily observe. Sometimes they are merely a reflection of carelessness or the selfishness of individualistic perspectives, detached from any real concern for the common good.
Delta, in mathematics, is the symbol of difference. And difference is what makes every human being unique. Diversity and individuality are a wealth and a treasure that must be preserved and defended in a world that increasingly tends toward homogenization.
