"Aitherios" is an album by the Danish band VÆVER, composed of Magnus Elskær Hansen, Martin Emil Friis Nielsen, Axel Schjerning Kjeldsen and Morten Holck Ertner, with all lyrics written by Magnus Elskær Hansen. The album is described as a multifaceted post-prog work rooted in high-reaching, esoteric metal, moving between quiet and intense dynamics, and addressing themes of alienation, loneliness, misanthropy, hopelessness, death, destruction, longing and acceptance. "(U)menneskelig" is a fast, heavy track addressing intrusive violent thoughts that people generally suppress due to social norms, questioning whether such thoughts are inhuman or simply human, and pays homage to classic death metal acts such as Cannibal Corpse. "Aioi" is told from the perspective of the twelve crew members of the Enola Gay on the mission targeting Hiroshima's Aioi bridge, following their experience from waking at 2:30 AM to dropping the bomb at 8:15 AM, and explores the tension between duty and morality. "Svane" is narrated from the perspective of a depressed, isolated individual burdened by his social and family background. "KiN," short for the Danish phrase "Kvæsted i Næstved" ("crippled in Næstved"), is an instrumental track combining alternating time signatures with metal, funk and jazz elements. The title track, "Aitherios" — Greek for "ethereal" — follows a protagonist who rises above earthly life into a state of loneliness and alienation before
